In a brazen heist driven by financial greed, a heavy earth-moving JCB machine valued at approximately 18 lakh rupees was stolen from the Belatrodi police station jurisdiction in Nagpur. The perpetrators managed to drive the heavy vehicle all the way across the state border into Katangi in the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. However, relentless tracking and a swift operation by Crime Branch Unit-4 led to the apprehension of five suspects and the successful recovery of the stolen machinery. Authorities seized the JCB along with five mobile phones, bringing the total value of the recovered assets to 18 lakh 50 thousand rupees.
The Vehicle Was Parked at a Construction Site
According to details gathered by investigators, the incident took place on the night of October 9. The JCB was parked at plot number-1 of Sanskruti Society in the Jagannath Nagar locality, where it was being utilized for ongoing construction work. Unidentified culprits managed to slip away with the heavy vehicle under the cover of night. A formal complaint was immediately lodged at the Belatrodi police station, prompting an official manhunt. Tracking down the stolen heavy machinery proved to be a daunting challenge for local law enforcement in the initial hours.
Tracking the Suspects to Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh
Recognizing the gravity of the crime, Crime Branch Unit-4 escalated the investigation by meticulously scanning closed-circuit television footage around the crime scene and potential escape routes. Coupled with actionable intelligence gathered through a network of secret informants, the police zeroed in on the suspects' location. Technical analysis and informer tips revealed that the stolen JCB and the accused parties had crossed state lines into Katangi within the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. A specialized crime branch team rushed to the location and, with the vital assistance of local police forces, detained all five individuals and retrieved the stolen vehicle.
CCTV Footage and Inter-State Police Cooperation
Investigators relied heavily on visual evidence, unearthing a crucial CCTV clip that captured the suspects driving the heavy vehicle away from the spot. This visual trail, combined with secret tip-offs and seamless coordination with the Madhya Pradesh police administration, ensured the success of the raid. At present, Crime Branch Unit-4 has formally handed over all five accused persons along with the seized assets to the Belatrodi police station for further legal proceedings and interrogation.
