A tragic incident has unfolded in Maharashtra's Beed district, where a three-year-old child lost her life after being severely scalded by boiling milk while trying to escape from a barking stray dog. Local police officials reported that the unfortunate event took place last Thursday in Nandur Haveli village.
How the Accident Unfolded
The victim, identified as Durga Pradip Budhnar, was playing outside her residence when a stray dog suddenly ran towards her in an aggressive manner, barking fiercely. Terrified by the charging animal, the toddler panicked and rushed rapidly toward her house to get away from the canine.
Contact With Boiling Milk
According to police officers, in her hurried dash into the courtyard, the young girl collided directly with a large vessel containing boiling milk that had been placed on a traditional earthen stove. The impact caused the pot to tip over, spilling the scalding hot liquid all over her entire body and causing devastating burns. Her family immediately rushed her to a private hospital for medical attention. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to the Beed District Civil Hospital, where she ultimately passed away during treatment. Relatives shared that just days prior to this tragedy, the family had celebrated the child's third birthday on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra.
Broader Incidents Involving Canine Menace
Stray and pet dog safety concerns have regularly sparked alarming reports across various regions. Earlier this year in July, the terror of a pet dog was captured in a Mumbai high-rise society where a foreign-breed dog attacked young girls. CCTV footage from the incident showed a woman struggling relentlessly to control the animal as it dragged her across the ground, though she managed to keep the children safe despite the intense struggle.
Unusual Protests and Incidents Across the State
Public frustration regarding stray animals has also prompted unconventional actions. In Nashik, a local leader staged a unique protest by carrying stray dogs packed inside a sack and releasing them directly onto the office table of a Nagar Panchayat chief officer, with the video circulating widely online. In another bizarre wildlife encounter highlighting canine dominance, a female leopard in Gondia was forced to climb a tree to escape a pack of stray dogs, leaving onlookers stunned.
