Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) has reported a profitable start to the financial year 2026-27, registering a double-digit jump in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter. According to the company's official financial disclosure submitted to the stock exchanges on Wednesday, consolidated net profit rose by 10.23 percent to reach Rs 3,649.50 crore. During the corresponding first quarter of the previous financial year, the port developer and logistics major had posted a net profit of Rs 3,310.60 crore. However, despite the healthy growth in bottom-line profits and top-line revenue, the company's shares faced selling pressure in equity markets during Wednesday's trading session.
Significant Growth in Q1 Revenue and Operating Expenses
In its exchange filing released on Wednesday, APSEZ outlined detailed operational and financial performance metrics for the April-June quarter. The total consolidated income of the company surged to Rs 11,673.71 crore in the first quarter of FY 2026-27, marking a substantial increase from Rs 9,422.18 crore reported in the same quarter of the preceding fiscal year. Alongside the revenue surge, total expenditure for the port infrastructure company also witnessed an upward movement. During the quarter under review, total expenses climbed to Rs 7,078.64 crore, compared to Rs 5,731.88 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
CEO Perspective and Strategic Growth Targets for 2031
Commenting on the financial results, Ashwani Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, emphasized the balanced performance across operations. "Balanced growth across all business segments has reinforced our confidence in achieving our ambitious target set for 2031," stated Ashwani Gupta.
Elaborating on the long-term vision, Ashwani Gupta noted that APSEZ is actively building a highly diversified, robust, and globally competitive transport platform capable of creating sustained long-term value. The company is advancing a domestic capacity expansion program aimed at achieving a handling capacity of one billion tonnes (1,000 MMT) by 2030. This expansion strategy is further supported by an expanding international footprint and a rapidly growing integrated logistics network designed to drive multi-modal transport efficiency.
Stock Performance: Shares Slide Over 3% Despite Solid Earnings
Despite the strong quarterly financial performance featuring a profit growth of over 10 percent, shares of Adani Ports experienced a noticeable decline on equity benchmarks on Wednesday. At around 02:37 PM on the BSE, the company's stock was trading lower by 3.31 percent, down by Rs 58.75 to trade at Rs 1,718.40 per share.
Throughout the trading day, the stock demonstrated significant volatility. Shares touched an intraday high of Rs 1,791.65 before dropping to an intraday low of Rs 1,705.50. In terms of long-term price range, Adani Ports holds a 52-week high of Rs 1,891.80 and a 52-week low of Rs 1,291.00.
