The Indian primary stock market is bracing for a busy week as three major public issues prepare to open for subscription between September 16 and September 17. Headlining the packed week is the long-awaited initial public offering (IPO) of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), which is finally entering the capital market after years of anticipation. Joining the market operator are electronics retail chain SS Retail and auto component manufacturer Hero Motors, creating diverse opportunities across institutional and retail investor segments.
National Stock Exchange IPO: Rs 22,561.57 Crore Mega Offer
The upcoming public issue of the National Stock Exchange stands as one of the most prominent market events in recent years. Structured entirely as a book-built issue, the offering carries a total valuation of Rs 22,561.57 crore. Notably, the issue contains no fresh capital raise component for the company, consisting entirely of an Offer for Sale (OFS) by existing shareholders who are divesting their stakes.
The subscription window for the NSE offering will open on September 17 and close on September 21. Following the conclusion of bidding, the allotment of shares is slated to be finalized on September 22. The shares are tentatively scheduled to make their market debut on September 24, with listing planned exclusively on the BSE.
The price band for the offering has been fixed between Rs 1,700 and Rs 1,785 per share, with a minimum bid lot of 8 shares. At the upper boundary of the price band, retail investors will require a minimum outlay of Rs 14,280 to submit an application. Grey market activity reflects steady investor interest, with the unlisted stock commanding a grey market premium (GMP) of Rs 208. Adding this premium to the upper price band suggests a projected listing price of approximately Rs 1,993 per share, representing an estimated listing gain of roughly 11.65 percent.
SS Retail IPO: Mobile and Electronics Chain Aims for Rs 500 Crore
The second company opening its subscription books next week is SS Retail, an established player operating in the mobile phone and consumer electronics retail segment. The firm aims to raise Rs 500 crore through a balanced mix of fresh capital issuance and secondary share sale.
The capital structure comprises a fresh issue of 85.08 lakh shares valued at Rs 360 crore, complemented by an OFS of 33.02 lakh shares valued at Rs 140 crore. Bidding for the SS Retail offer will open on September 16 and conclude on September 18. Share allotment will be settled by September 21, and trading is scheduled to commence on both the NSE and BSE on September 23.
SS Retail has specified a price band of Rs 403 to Rs 424 per share, accompanied by a minimum lot size of 35 shares. Applying at the upper cap of Rs 424 demands a minimum retail capital commitment of Rs 14,840 per lot. As of September 12, the shares were trading at a GMP of Rs 106 in informal market channels.
Hero Motors IPO: Mobility Solutions Firm Seeks Rs 1,000 Crore
Rounding out the upcoming line-up is Hero Motors, a well-entrenched business in the automotive components and mobility sector. The company's public issue seeks to gather Rs 1,000 crore from primary market participants.
The offering consists of a fresh issue component of 7.14 crore shares worth Rs 600 crore alongside an Offer for Sale of 4.76 crore shares totaling Rs 400 crore. Similar to SS Retail, the Hero Motors IPO will open for public bidding on September 16 and close on September 18. Allotment procedures are set for completion on September 21, with tentative listing scheduled for September 23 on both the NSE and BSE.
The firm has established a price range of Rs 79 to Rs 84 per share, with a lot size of 178 shares. Retail bidders applying at the maximum price point will need an upfront investment of Rs 14,952 per application. As of September 12, Hero Motors recorded a GMP of Rs 24. At the upper price band limit of Rs 84, this indicates a potential listing price near Rs 108 per share, translating to an estimated listing premium of around 28.57 percent.
Key Summary for Retail Applicants
With three distinct issues hitting the market simultaneously, retail investors will need to plan their liquidity carefully. A retail applicant seeking to apply for one lot across all three offerings would require a total capital of Rs 44,072 (Rs 14,280 for NSE, Rs 14,840 for SS Retail, and Rs 14,952 for Hero Motors). Potential applicants should evaluate market conditions and review financial prospectuses thoroughly prior to bidding.
