Gold rates in India experienced a sharp climb of at least Rs 10,000, driven by a notable decline in crude oil prices and widespread expectations that the US Federal Reserve will maintain a status quo on its monetary policy. In contrast, silver rates across the country remained entirely unchanged on Monday, holding steady without any major fluctuations.
Commodity Market Performance and Global Trends
In the broader commodity market, MCX gold hovered close to Rs 1.44 lakh per 10 grams while spot gold successfully reclaimed the $4,100 per ounce threshold. Meanwhile, MCX silver traded near the Rs 2.26 lakh per 1 kg mark, and spot silver held steady around $60 per ounce on July 27. All major precious metal prices traded on a higher note. Additionally, ongoing discussions regarding renegotiation between the US and Iran have provided an extra buffer, helping to ease immediate concerns regarding persistent inflationary pressures.

Key Triggers Shaping Future Precious Metal Trends
Persistent geopolitical tensions are expected to keep a risk premium embedded within oil prices, leaving energy markets elevated and reinforcing worries that inflation could remain sticky over the near term. According to Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, that combination may continue to support the US dollar and strengthen expectations that interest rates will remain higher for longer.
The expert added that while safe-haven demand provides a foundational layer of support, these macroeconomic headwinds could cap aggressive gains in precious metals. Furthermore, the upcoming US Federal Reserve policy meeting scheduled for July 28-29 will serve as a critical milestone for global commodity markets. Although policymakers are widely anticipated to leave interest rates untouched, market participants will closely analyze the central bank's commentary on inflation risks, broader economic growth, and the future trajectory of monetary policy.
A more hawkish tone from policymakers could lift Treasury yields and strengthen the US currency, thereby weighing on gold and silver while intensifying concerns over global demand. On the other hand, a more balanced outlook could offer renewed backing to precious metals and improve overall investor sentiment.
