Four students from the Mawkyrwat region who delivered exceptional performances in the SSLC Examination 2026 were felicitated at a special ceremony. The event marked the 20th edition of the Maniwell Jahrin Award for Academic Excellence, which took place at the Maharam Government Higher Secondary School Hall in Mawkyrwat, Meghalaya.
Background of the Annual Award
The annual recognition was instituted back in 2004 by the family of the late Maniwell Jahrin in his memory. The initiative aims to acknowledge meritorious students and encourage them to consistently strive for high academic standards. The late Maniwell Jahrin was widely respected as an educator originating from Jakrem, Meghalaya.
This Year Recipients and Presenter
The students honoured during this year event include Sunshinestar Nongsiej, Saveful Kharjahrin, Banjoplang Lyngdoh, and Banpyntngen Nongsiej. Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton Lyngdoh graced the occasion and presented the awards to the deserving young scholars during the ceremony.

The programme witnessed active participation from several notable figures, including Pearly Syiem Marak, Rev. Dr S.I. Iawphniaw, Tony T.C. Marak, and Bording Lyngdoh.
