In Ri-Bhoi district's Baridua area of Meghalaya, a domestic dispute turned violent on Sunday night, leaving a man with serious injuries after his wife allegedly attacked him with a machete inside their own home.
What Happened That Night
The injured man has been identified as Sikander Lyngdoh, a resident of 9th Mile Baridua. Police said the local headman first raised the alarm, alerting Khanapara Police station at around 9.11 pm about a violent quarrel underway at the couple's residence. Officers hurried to the spot and found Lyngdoh lying unconscious on the floor of the house, bleeding heavily, apparently after being struck on the head with a machete. According to the preliminary investigation, his wife, identified as 36-year-old Poonam Bosper, is alleged to have carried out the attack during the altercation.
Brother Rushed Him to Hospital
Soon after the assault came to light, Lyngdoh's brother arrived at the house and discovered him in the unconscious state. He rushed Lyngdoh to Health City for emergency medical treatment. His injuries have been described as serious.
Wife Missing, Search Operation Launched
Police said Bosper allegedly left the house soon after the incident and has since remained untraceable. A search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend her, with investigators working to establish her possible whereabouts.
Motive Still Under Investigation
Officers are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the alleged attack. The exact motive behind the assault has not yet been established, and the case remains under active investigation.
