The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has come forward to express strong solidarity with the deficit school teachers of Meghalaya who are currently agitating over long-standing and unresolved service issues. The political party launched a sharp criticism against what it termed as an arrogant and deeply insensitive approach displayed by bureaucrats toward the entire teaching community.
Growing Frustration and Urgent Demands
In a formal statement released to the public, the party described the ongoing protests by teachers as a clear reflection of the mounting frustration within their ranks. The educators have raised critical demands centered around the Contributory Provident Fund (CPF), dearness allowance (DA) arrears, retirement benefits, and various other essential service matters. The party stressed that these pressing demands require serious attention and must be addressed through time-bound administrative actions rather than routine delays.
Questioning the Administrative Mindset
The political outfit also directed its critique toward the functioning of the administrative machinery in the region. According to the party, the core purpose of the IAS is to serve the general public and those who dedicate their lives to education, rather than fostering a sense of unwarranted superiority over ordinary citizens. No official, regardless of their rank or position, should ever treat teachers as inferior or casually dismiss their legitimate concerns simply because they lack bureaucratic authority. Administrative power must be exercised with genuine humility, accountability, and empathy instead of reducing human grievances into mere files and paperwork.
Call for Meaningful Government Dialogue
Calling the situation deeply unfortunate, the party noted that educators who spend their lives shaping the future generation should never be forced to resort to agitations just to make the administration listen to their struggles. The VPP urged the state government to engage in meaningful discussions with teachers' associations and settle all pending demands without any further procrastination. Concluding its statement, the party reiterated that teachers deserve profound respect and absolute justice rather than continuous indifference and empty excuses, while reaffirming its firm support for the agitating deficit school teachers.
