Domestic equity markets have embarked on a spirited pre-Diwali rally, powered by aggressive across-the-board buying that pushed both benchmark indices sharply higher during morning deals. The BSE Sensex advanced 1,486.39 points to hit 78,787.79 by 10 am, while the broader NSE Nifty climbed 415.75 points to trade at 24,376.35. With this swift rebound, the Nifty index has added approximately 2.00% across November. Against the backdrop of the scheduled Muhurat Trading session on the festive day of Diwali, Angel One Research has unveiled its Shagun Ke Shares Diwali Picks report, spotlighting eight high-conviction ideas across diverse sectors.
Domestic Liquidity Buffers Heavy Foreign Outflows
The broader market setup in 2026 has been marked by an intense tug-of-war between overseas selling pressure and relentless domestic buying support. The Nifty has declined roughly 13.4% year-to-date in 2026, driven primarily by Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) pulling out Rs. 3.04 lakh crore from Indian equities. This outflow dwarfs the Rs. 1.66 lakh crore withdrawn during the entirety of 2025. Providing a crucial floor to asset prices has been institutional and retail capital within the country. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) have pumped an unprecedented Rs. 6.21 lakh crore into stocks this year, supported by an all-time peak in monthly systematic investment plan (SIP) collections, which reached Rs. 32,490 crore in September.
Large-Cap Banking Anchor: ICICI Bank
Standing as the sole large-cap constituent on the festive roster, ICICI Bank has been assigned a target price of Rs. 1,800 against its current market price of Rs. 1,363. The valuation multiple is pegged at 18.8 times FY29 estimated earnings per share (EPS) of Rs. 95.7. The private lender demonstrated strong earnings momentum in Q2 FY27, posting a 20.1% year-on-year increase in standalone profit after tax (PAT) to Rs. 14,843 crore. Net interest income (NII) expanded 17.7% to Rs. 25,339 crore over the same period, while gross non-performing assets (NPA) moderated to 1.20% and net NPA dropped to 0.30%.
The near-term pressure point remains profitability margins. The net interest margin (NIM) contracted to 4.18% in the second quarter from 4.36% in Q1 FY27, following the bank's mobilisation of approximately $18 billion in Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) deposits. Executive management expects this margin pressure to linger slightly through Q3, after which a gradual recovery is anticipated beginning in Q4 as the low-cost liabilities are fully deployed into yielding credit assets.
Mid and Small-Cap Plays in Finance and Pharmaceuticals
In the financial inclusion arena, Northern Arc Capital represents a smaller credit bet, trading at Rs. 255 with an estimated fair value target of Rs. 330. Serving unbanked and underserved households and enterprises, the lender expanded its lending assets under management (AUM) by 26% year-on-year to Rs. 16,855 crore. Its direct-to-customer portfolio has successfully crossed the Rs. 10,000 crore milestone, indicating steady retail penetration.
Within the pharmaceutical basket, Aarti Pharmalabs has received a Buy recommendation with a target price of Rs. 1,160 versus its current quotation of Rs. 879. This corresponds to a valuation multiple of 24 times FY29 estimated EPS of Rs. 48. Operating as the premier domestic producer of xanthine derivatives, the company reported a 38.7% year-on-year surge in Q1 FY27 top line to Rs. 536 crore, while net earnings surged 65.4% to reach Rs. 76.1 crore.
Jewellery Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering
Catering to institutional and organised retail jewellers on a B2B model, Shanti Gold International carries an upside target of Rs. 410 compared to its present market price of Rs. 316. In Q1 FY27, revenues surged 145% year-on-year to Rs. 716 crore, while bottom-line PAT expanded 47% to Rs. 50.5 crore, backed by volume growth of 61.6%. With fresh production capacities entering operational status, corporate management has guided for full-year revenue expansion of 50% to 60%.
Precision manufacturer Ratnaveer Precision Engineering, recognized as the country's leading maker of stainless-steel washers, holds a target of Rs. 400 against a trading price of Rs. 344, representing the second-narrowest headroom on the list. Q1 FY27 revenue rose 18.9% year-on-year to Rs. 314.6 crore, accompanied by a 22% growth in PAT to Rs. 18.2 crore. A pivotal operational catalyst is its upcoming copper clad laminate venture, scheduled for commercial production rollout in November 2026, marking an entry into electronic components. The equity has nearly doubled over the past twelve months, though an ongoing Rs. 330 crore rights issue is slated to dilute return on equity (ROE) until the new plant ramps to optimal capacity.
Consultancy, Real Estate and Defence Portfolios
State-owned technical consultancy Engineers India trades around Rs. 248 with a target of Rs. 320, benefiting directly from a structural mix shift toward high-margin assignments. Consultancy activities contributed 62% of aggregate revenues in Q1 FY27, propelling operating EBITDA margin to 18.6% from 11.7% in the previous year and driving a 55% jump in standalone PAT to Rs. 109 crore.
Regional developer AGI Infra, headquartered in Jalandhar with an operational footprint in Punjab and Tier-II urban centres, trades at Rs. 221 with a target of Rs. 285. In FY26, PAT climbed 42% to Rs. 95 crore alongside EBITDA margin of approximately 35%, while Q1 FY27 profit grew 38% to Rs. 28 crore despite modest 5% top-line growth. Even though the stock sits roughly 50% below its 52-week peak of Rs. 434, risks include working capital requirements stretching to 211 days and operating cash flows remaining negative in FY26.
Rounding out the basket is Apollo Micro Systems, offering the lowest upside of 15% with a price target of Rs. 475 against its trading price of Rs. 415. This represents a reaffirmed call, following an earlier recommendation by Angel One at Rs. 385. In Q2 FY27, consolidated revenues surged 72% year-on-year to Rs. 388 crore, EBITDA jumped 88% to Rs. 111 crore with a 28.6% operating margin, and PAT advanced 54% to Rs. 46 crore, supported by an all-time high order book of Rs. 1,765 crore.
