A tragic accident in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, has left a family devastated after a class 11 student from a private school died after falling from the 10th floor of an apartment building. The incident took place in the city's Neeladri Vihar locality, where the student had gone to meet his girlfriend and lost his life while trying to sneak out of her flat. The deceased has been identified as Rafan Khurshid, a resident of Bhubaneswar's Laxmisagar area. The sudden loss has shaken the family, and police have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances.
Fear of being spotted by girlfriend's mother triggered the risky escape
According to the information available, Rafan Khurshid had gone to an apartment in Neeladri Vihar to meet his girlfriend. The two were inside the flat when the girl's mother suddenly arrived. Rafan panicked, believing that his presence had been noticed or that the mother had spotted him. Gripped by the fear of being caught and the embarrassment that would follow, he chose not to walk out through the main door and instead decided on an extremely risky way out. He climbed out through the bathroom window of the flat and grabbed hold of a drainage pipe fitted outside, attempting to climb down using it.
Drainage pipe snapped on the 10th floor, sending him crashing to the ground

The fall from such a great height caused him extremely severe injuries, and he died on the spot. As news of the accident spread, panic gripped the entire apartment complex, and residents immediately alerted the police.
