Rising water levels in the Ganga river have prompted high alertness across Chandauli district, leading both state authorities and the local administration to step up preventive measures against potential flooding. Taking direct charge of preparedness, Hansraj Vishwakarma, the State Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, conducted an extensive field inspection of flood prone areas in the district. During his visit, the minister inspected the flood post located at Marufpur along with various riverbanks of the Ganga to assess the ground situation first hand.
Direct Dialogue with Local Residents to Provide Reassurance
While surveying the vulnerable riverside villages, Minister Hansraj Vishwakarma interacted directly with local residents to understand their immediate concerns and grievances. Reassuring the community, he stated that the state government stands firmly beside every citizen during this critical period. He urged residents not to panic, emphasizing that both the government and local administration are maintaining continuous oversight over the evolving situation.
Strict Directives for Advance Fodder, Medicines, and Relief Camps
Addressing administrative officials on site, the minister instructed that all precautionary steps must be fully operationalized well before floodwaters rise, ensuring complete protection of life and property. He mandated round the clock surveillance across vulnerable stretches and ordered the immediate activation of designated relief shelters. Furthermore, he emphasized making robust advance arrangements for clean drinking water, adequate medical supplies, rescue boats, and sufficient fodder for livestock.
District Administration Maintains 24/7 Vigilance via Dedicated Control Rooms
District Magistrate Chandra Mohan Garg, who was present during the inspection, briefed the minister on administrative readiness and assured him of full alert status. He highlighted that officials at the block and sub-divisional levels are actively touring their respective jurisdictions to monitor river levels continuously. Dedicated control rooms have been established to handle emergency situations, with personnel deployed on round the clock shifts. The inspection was also attended by the ADM of Finance and Revenue alongside several senior district officials.
