During the protest, authorities detained Rahul Gandhi along with Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. In the middle of this escalating dispute, an important administrative development took place as the Chief Election Commissioner postponed his scheduled two-day tour to Chhattisgarh, which was slated for October 7 and October 8.
Official Notice from the Chief Electoral Officer
The office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Chhattisgarh issued an official letter on Tuesday, October 6, formally communicating the postponement. The communique stated that the visit of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar alongside senior Election Commission officials has been deferred due to unavoidable circumstances. The notice further clarified that fresh dates for the tour would be announced later by the commission.
Last-Minute Deferral Despite Protocol Arrangements
Extensive administrative preparations were already finalized in Chhattisgarh ahead of the planned arrival. The state administration had formally granted state guest status to Gyanesh Kumar, putting standard protocol, reception, and security arrangements in place across the administration. Despite these comprehensive logistical preparations being fully underway, the official schedule was put on hold at the very last moment.
