In Haryana's Gurugram district, a 22-year-old man named Sagar was fatally shot inside his residence in the Farrukhnagar area, sparking widespread outrage and prompt administrative action. Following severe allegations of police inaction regarding a prior dispute, senior law enforcement officials have suspended two police personnel and ordered a departmental inquiry against them. According to a senior police officer, the suspended personnel have been identified as Head Constable Ashok and Constable Vinod. The deceased victim's family maintained that prompt action on an earlier formal complaint could have prevented the conflict from escalating and ultimately saved Sagar's life.
Timeline of the Incident and Allegations of Police Negligence
The tragedy originated from an earlier altercation in the village. On August 3, Sagar's father, Munnilal, lodged an official complaint with the local police detailing an alleged dispute with Sachet, also known as Munna, who is a resident of Karaula village in Gurugram. However, the family alleged that the authorities failed to initiate preventive steps or conduct a timely investigation into the matter.
On August 6, Sagar, who was employed in Bengaluru, returned to his native village. He arrived at the local bus stand, where his brother and other relatives met him to walk home together. Shortly after they arrived at their residence, an armed group allegedly led by Sachet forcibly barged into the house and launched a violent assault on the family members. Amid the chaos and physical conflict, one of the assailants opened fire with the clear intention to kill, hitting Sagar.
Hospital Pronouncement and Departmental Inquiry
Sagar was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, where attending doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. Following his demise, a formal case was registered at the Farrukhnagar police station. The grieving family reiterated that the lethal attack would have been averted had the police responded effectively to the initial complaint filed on August 3. Acknowledging the procedural lapses, senior officials confirmed the suspension of Head Constable Ashok and Constable Vinod, pending the outcome of the internal departmental inquiry.
Crime Branch Crackdown: Nine Arrested from Rohtak
Taking swift control of the homicide investigation, a specialized team from the Crime Branch tracked down and arrested nine suspects from the Azadgarh area of Rohtak district. The arrested individuals hail from multiple districts across Haryana, highlighting a network of accomplices involved in the violent crime.
The arrested suspects from Jhajjar district have been identified as Om, Vinay Kumar, and Sahil. Six individuals from Sonipat district were also apprehended, including Gautam, Ashwini, Mandeep alias Dippi, Anush alias Chinu, and Sunil alias Abhishek alias Khota. Additionally, Sachet alias Munna, a resident of Gurugram district who was central to the dispute, was captured during the operation in Rohtak. A senior police officer confirmed both the suspension of the two officers and the formal arrest of all nine accused, noting that further legal proceedings and investigation into the case are actively underway.
