The Postal Department in Firozabad has introduced a new public-centric initiative at the Suhag Nagar main post office by expanding Aadhaar services to Sundays. This move comes as a major relief for residents who frequently struggle to complete their identification procedures during standard working days. By keeping the Aadhaar counter operational on weekends, the department aims to eliminate the inconvenience faced by working professionals, students, and citizens living in remote parts of the district.
Designed Specifically for Working Professionals
The Suhag Nagar main post office experiences heavy daily footfall from visitors seeking new Aadhaar enrolments as well as demographic and biometric corrections. Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices Gaurav Gautam noted that a substantial portion of the district's population is employed in government departments, private companies, or other occupations that prevent them from visiting during regular weekday hours. For these individuals, Sunday represents the sole day available for personal administrative errands. Recognizing this ongoing difficulty, higher authorities issued directives to open the post office on Sundays exclusively for Aadhaar-related tasks.
Operational Hours and Available Services
Under the revised weekend schedule, the Aadhaar processing desk at the main post office opens at 9:00 AM every Sunday and remains active until 5:00 PM. The facility caters to people of all demographics, servicing both young children and adult applicants. Citizens can visit during these designated hours to register for a new Aadhaar card or rectify details on their existing cards without needing to request leave from their workplaces.
Official Call to Utilize Weekend Facility
Emphasizing that this is the first time the local postal division has launched a Sunday operational model, officials have urged residents across the district to make full use of the arrangement. Assistant Superintendent Gaurav Gautam requested individuals facing weekday scheduling constraints to plan their visits for Sundays, ensuring a smooth service experience while avoiding weekday overcrowding and work disruptions.
