Reaching the status of a true global leader requires bringing society's most neglected and underprivileged sections into the mainstream. This assertion was made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, who noted that national progress remains incomplete until nomadic, de-notified, and tribal communities receive equal opportunities for education, dignity, and self-reliance.
Inauguration at Khamgaon Ashram School
The RSS chief made these remarks on Saturday while addressing a gathering at an ashram school for Pardhi tribal children in Khamgaon, located in the Vidarbha region. During the visit, he inaugurated state-of-the-art facilities and three new sports complexes built at the campus. These modern amenities were developed through a collaborative initiative between the 'Shree Sadguru Dharmik & Charitable Trust' and Pune-based 'Amanora YES Foundation'.
Recognizing the Role of Nomadic Communities
Highlighting the historical significance of these groups, the Sangh leader pointed out that nomadic and de-notified communities have traditionally contributed greatly to Indian society. In earlier times, they traveled from region to region, sharing knowledge and life experiences, but eventually fell victim to social neglect. He stressed the urgent need to eradicate this indifference and provide them with proper avenues for learning, employment, and empowerment.
The Legacy of British Colonial Rule
Reflecting on the historical injustices of the British Raj, Dr. Bhagwat explained that because several communities, including the Pardhis, actively participated in the freedom struggle, colonial rulers unjustly labeled them as 'criminal tribes'. He stated that this dark chapter in history deeply crippled their socioeconomic development. Although foreign invasions and prolonged servitude fractured Indian society, many groups refused to surrender to captivity and continued fighting for independence.
Inspecting Campus Facilities and Honoring Students
As part of the event, Dr. Bhagwat toured the school grounds, inspecting the playgrounds, student dormitories, kitchen facilities, and a kitchen garden cultivated by the students themselves. He distributed financial assistance checks of 10,000 rupees each to 16 young Pardhi girls and felicitated notable alumni of the institution for their achievements.
Government and Foundation Commitments
Maharashtra Tribal Development Minister Dr. Ashok Uike addressed the gathering, stating that the government is actively implementing various schemes to uplift the socioeconomic status of Pardhi and tribal populations. Labor Minister Akash Fundkar and Amanora YES Foundation Managing Director Aniruddha Deshpande also spoke, underscoring ongoing efforts to equip these children with modern educational tools and foster their path toward self-sufficiency.
