A serious marital dispute has surfaced in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, where a woman has accused her husband of severing ties and denying her entry into his home after securing a government appointment. Sonam Kumari, a resident of Senapur village under the Kerakat police station limits, submitted a formal petition to the Superintendent of Police seeking legal intervention. She stated that the couple had married out of love, but her husband altered his attitude completely once he gained public sector employment.
A Relationship Formed During College Years
Sonam Kumari, daughter of Antu Ram, was in a relationship with Jaihind Kumar, son of Sampatram and a resident of Panihar village in Kerakat. According to Sonam, their connection began during their college days. Jaihind was pursuing his higher studies at an educational institution elsewhere but regularly visited Senapur village to participate in local cricket matches. Their interactions grew into a romantic relationship over time. During this phase, Jaihind was actively preparing for various competitive examinations, and following years of courtship, the duo entered into a love marriage in 2022.
Employment in Agriculture Department and Marital Strain
According to the complainant, their marital life remained stable for an initial period after the wedding. However, circumstances changed when Jaihind secured a government position in the Agriculture Department. Sonam alleged that she was not informed about this professional success by her husband directly, but instead learned of the appointment through an acquaintance. Following his recruitment, Jaihind reportedly refused to let her cohabit with him, stating that his social and economic status had elevated, whereas Sonam belonged to an underprivileged family that no longer matched his lifestyle.
Locked Out of the Matrimonial Home and Police Call
Sonam detailed in her complaint that when she arrived at her matrimonial home in Panihar, the family members barred her from entering and locked the front gates. As the confrontation escalated into the night, she placed a call to the emergency response vehicle service at Dial 112. Even after the arrival of the police patrol team, Jaihind allegedly maintained his refusal to live with her and insisted that she return to her parents' residence. She further claimed that her in-laws suggested she remarry elsewhere rather than pressuring them to accept her.
Formal Complaint Before Senior Police Officials
Finding herself turned away from her marital home, Sonam approached the office of the Superintendent of Police in Jaunpur to seek justice. The district police administration has taken cognizance of the application and directed local precinct officers to conduct an inquiry into the matter. Official findings will determine the veracity of the claims and establish the underlying circumstances behind the dispute.
