Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to the national heroes and immortal freedom fighters who took part in the historic Quit India Movement as the country marked its 84th anniversary. The Prime Minister stated that the incredible courage displayed by those who joined the agitation will forever serve as a guiding light and source of inspiration for every Indian citizen.
Sharing his thoughts on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister noted that energized by the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, the clarion call to quit India infused fresh vitality into the nation's freedom struggle. He emphasized that this movement reflected the unwavering resolve of the Indian populace to break free from the shackles of colonial rule.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also shared a commemorative message, offering deep homage to all the known and unsung heroes who dedicated their entire being to realizing the dream of a free nation. He highlighted that Mahatma Gandhi’s powerful slogan of do or die acted as a resounding voice of courage and determination for millions of Indians during that turbulent era.
Birla further noted that countless freedom fighters endured severe prison torture, waged prolonged battles, and made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives during the movement. Their struggle, he pointed out, was not merely aimed at achieving political autonomy, but was meant to build a nation firmly rooted in the ideals of truth, non-violence, democracy, equality, and intense patriotism.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda also joined the nation in remembering the landmark chapter of the independence struggle that began on this very day in August 1942 under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi. He remarked that the August Revolution sparked a renewed consciousness across the length and breadth of the country, uniting ordinary citizens in their quest for self-rule.
Concluding his thoughts, Nadda stated that the annals of the August Revolution remain richly adorned with tales of supreme sacrifice and unparalleled bravery by countless unsung warriors, which will continue to inspire upcoming generations towards dedicated national service and profound patriotism.
