A migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was beaten to death while asleep at a construction site in Maharashtra's Sangli district, after a dispute broke out between two labourers working there.
Who was the victim
The deceased has been identified as Rajman Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh who had travelled to Maharashtra in search of work. He was employed along with three other labourers at a house construction site in the Mayakkanagar area of Vita town in Sangli district.
How the attack happened
Police said an argument broke out between Rajman Kumar and a fellow worker, Ashok Kumar. Ashok allegedly attacked the sleeping Rajman with a wooden stick following the dispute. The assault left Rajman with severe head injuries. He was rushed to a nearby rural hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Accused on the run, police search underway
After the attack, accused Ashok Kumar fled the scene. Multiple police teams have been deployed to trace and arrest him. Sub-divisional police officer Sadashiv Shelar, along with other officials, reached the spot soon after the incident was reported and began an investigation.
