More than 51,000 newly selected candidates received appointment letters for various central government posts on Saturday during the 20th edition of the Rozgar Mela. Addressing the recruits across the country through video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the young appointees and their families. He highlighted that these recruits are entering public service at an inflection point when the nation is actively working toward its overarching target of building a developed India, or Viksit Bharat, by the year 2047. The Prime Minister underscored that the younger generation holds a decisive stake in realizing this vision, urging new personnel to make administrative decisions that directly reinforce the twin missions of self-reliance and national development. He also remarked that alongside the hard work of the successful candidates, the relentless sacrifices and support of their parents and family members played a pivotal role in this milestone.
The Prime Minister noted that the talent, dedication, and technical competence of India's youth have earned widespread respect worldwide. The international community holds immense expectations from Indian entrepreneurs, innovators, and skilled human resources. Referring to the recently concluded BRICS Summit, he explained that India's persistent effort has been to broaden multilateral cooperation beyond high-level government talks to actively involve entrepreneurs, farmers, women, and youth. Initiatives such as BRICS Connect and the BRICS MSME Cooperation Portal were established precisely with this objective of democratizing international economic partnerships.
Global Trade Accords and Industrial Modernization
Highlighting global business engagements, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointed out that India has entered into free trade agreements (FTAs) with around 40 countries over recent years. These bilateral and multilateral pacts are providing domestic entrepreneurs with direct access to new consumer markets and strategic partnerships, simultaneously opening up broad career prospects for emerging professionals. He stated that the central government remains dedicated to equipping youth for future industrial landscapes through foundational reforms like the National Education Policy, the Skill India Mission, and extensive apprenticeship programs. In this context, he cited the PM Setu scheme, under which an investment of 60,000 crore rupees is being directed to modernize 1,000 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) with active, direct participation from industrial enterprises.
Startup Expansion and Employment Generation Schemes
Turning to India's domestic enterprise environment, the Prime Minister observed that the country has grown into the world's third-largest startup ecosystem. Notably, nearly half of all recognized startups are now thriving in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, bringing balanced geographic innovation. Discussing welfare-linked workforce expansion, he detailed the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, an initiative involving an outlay of nearly 1 lakh crore rupees. This program aims to enable approximately 2 crore youth to enter the formal workforce for the first time. The initiative features a dedicated financial incentive of up to 15,000 rupees for first-time job entrants, while concurrently providing financial support to employers who generate fresh employment opportunities.
Sustained Economic Momentum and Sensitive Administration
Pointing to broad macroeconomic indicators, Prime Minister Modi cited that the country registered an economic growth rate of 7.8 percent in the first quarter of the current financial year, accompanied by an investment expansion of nearly 12 percent. He attributed this ongoing expansion to the deep structural reforms executed over previous years. Calling upon the new government employees to maintain the pace of these reforms, he remarked that every file signed and every decision finalized by an official should champion the aspirations of ordinary citizens. The bureaucracy must see its role as clearing procedural obstacles for the youth, validating creative ideas, and creating an enabling atmosphere where innovation attracts investment and spurs sustainable jobs.
Focus on Continuous Skill Development and Public Service
The Prime Minister strongly advised the inductees to view skill enhancement as an ongoing habit and keep pace with emerging technological workflows. Highlighting administrative capacity-building under Mission Karmayogi, he stated that more than 1.70 crore government personnel have already enrolled on the iGOT Karmayogi digital platform. In addition, the specialized Karmayogi Prarambh module has been crafted specifically to orient and train new entrants in citizen-centric governance. Emphasizing public accountability, he stated that the ultimate strength of any government lies in the faith reposed in it by its citizens. Whether processing an elderly person's pension, clearing an educational scholarship for a student, or delivering institutional support to a farmer, every administrative official directly touches daily lives. He urged the new appointees to remain conscious of this grave social responsibility and prioritize selfless national service throughout their careers.
