On Sunday, Pappu Yadav was holding a press conference at his Delhi residence to defend a dramatic protest held inside the Parliament complex concerning a donation theft controversy at the Ram Mandir. In the middle of his address, a man suddenly lunged forward and hurled a slipper at him, triggering immediate chaos at the venue.
Identity and Background of the Accused
Following the chaos, supporters of the MP overpowered and thrashed the assailant at the scene. The individual who threw the slipper was identified as 34-year-old Sumit, a native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh who works with iron fabrication in Ghaziabad. Police officials previously stated that Sumit has no prior criminal background.
Second Suspect Found in Car and Weapons Claims
At the time of the altercation, another young man named Happy was discovered sitting inside a car parked outside the MP's residence. Close associates of Pappu Yadav claimed right after the incident that two individuals had arrived posing as journalists. According to their account, one targeted the MP with a slipper, while a knife was allegedly recovered from the second person. Both individuals were subsequently handed over to the police, leading to the latest decision regarding the main accused's release.
