A wave of panic swept across educational institutions in Ahmedabad on Wednesday after at least 10 schools received bomb threats, prompting administrative authorities to send students home well ahead of schedule. As soon as the threat notifications were reported, emergency response teams, including local police personnel, fire department crews, and bomb detection and disposal teams, were mobilized across the affected premises to execute comprehensive safety sweeps.
Western Ahmedabad Institutions Bear the Brunt of Threats
Most of the institutions targeted by these intimidations are situated across the western corridor of the city. Upon receiving the warnings, respective school administrations immediately alerted civil and law enforcement officials, which triggered the rapid deployment of specialized security personnel across various parts of the city. Officers quickly established perimeters around school grounds to initiate meticulous screening procedures.
Among the affected establishments is Zydus School in the Vejalpur locality, where management decided to dismiss classes early as an immediate precautionary measure. Police patrol vehicles and fire engines were promptly dispatched directly inside the campus gates. Simultaneously, school authorities initiated communication with parents to inform them about early student releases, helping reduce panic among families waiting at home.
Multiple Prominent Campuses Screened as Inquiries Continue
Other prominent educational institutions that fell under the shadow of the alert include School for Children in Bodakdev, SGVP School, St Kabir School on Drive-In Road, and Asia School. Because emergency teams remain on high alert and are responding to multiple calls, authorities are continuing to verify the precise tally of targeted institutions. Investigators are currently waiting for further technical findings regarding the medium and origin of the threats to determine their exact source.
Pattern of Hoax Threat Incidents in Recent Months
Ahmedabad has witnessed multiple similar episodes over the past several months, involving coordinated threat notifications sent to educational and administrative facilities. In September, threatening emails claiming impending bomb blasts were directed at 10 city schools, three court complexes, and the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Thorough forensic sweeps at that time yielded no suspicious materials, and authorities eventually declared those alarms to be deliberate hoaxes.
A comparable wave took place earlier in January, when at least 16 schools across Ahmedabad district received bomb threat emails. That incident prompted extensive evacuations and multi-agency search operations executed by the Special Operations Group, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, and trained dog squads. Police officials confirmed afterwards that no explosive devices or hazardous substances were detected during those sweeps. Following Wednesday's warnings, specialized disposal teams and firefighters are once again conducting exhaustive campus checks to rule out all risks.
