Weather conditions are undergoing a significant shift across various regions of the country. According to the latest forecasts from the India Meteorological Department, snowfall has been recorded in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. This seasonal change is now directly impacting the plains of northern India, where the air is turning cooler.
Cooling Temperatures in Northern Plains
Following the snowfall in the mountains, early morning and late evening breezes in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, and western Uttar Pradesh have turned noticeably chilly. Meteorological officials indicate that nighttime temperatures in these northern plains are likely to drop further as the winter transition sets in gradually.
Rain Alert Issued for South India
While northern regions experience early winter chill, southern India faces a prolonged wet spell. The weather department has issued an alert predicting widespread rainfall across most parts of South India over the coming seven days. Wind speeds during this period could reach up to 50 KMPH in affected areas.
Impact of Western Disturbances
An active western disturbance is driving these shifting weather patterns nationwide. The phenomenon has triggered meteorological changes ranging from hill snow to cloud cover and brisk winds in the plains. Authorities continue to monitor conditions closely as the weather transitions across different zones.
