A potential policy discussion surrounding aviation fuel composition has sparked debate after public concerns were raised over flight safety standards. In a post shared on social media platform X from his handle @ArvindKejriwal, Arvind Kejriwal highlighted internal discussions regarding fuel blending in commercial aviation.
Alleged Ethanol Blending Proposal
Citing undisclosed sources, Arvind Kejriwal stated that the Modi government is planning to introduce ethanol blending into Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). While ethanol blending has been widely implemented in commercial automobile fuels, its potential application in jet fuel represents a major technological shift.
Concerns Over Aircraft Safety
Expressing deep concern over the technical implications, Arvind Kejriwal noted that aviation experts warn such a move could seriously compromise the safety of flights. Experts emphasize that commercial aircraft engines require highly specific fuel standards to operate safely at high altitudes and varying atmospheric pressures.
