Rajnath Singh Visits Flood-Hit Faizullaganj in Lucknow to Support Affected Residents

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the inundated Faizullaganj area in Lucknow, distributing relief packets and reviewing ongoing rescue operations with authorities.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the flood-ravaged Faizullaganj neighbourhood in Lucknow to assess conditions on the ground and interact directly with stranded residents. During his inspection, he distributed essential relief material to families coping with the inundation caused by the swollen Gomti river.

Ground Review and Administrative Coordination

Taking stock of the emergency response, the leader reviewed the progress of community support initiatives. He noted that regular consultations are underway with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the district magistrate, and operational teams to streamline relief deliveries and reinforce rescue measures across all affected zones.

Severe Waterlogging and Ground Challenges

Rising water levels in the Gomti submerged extensive stretches of Faizullaganj and nearby Daudnagar, leaving lanes under three to four feet of floodwater. Even as currents receded, residents across nine colonies faced severe mobility constraints, contaminated surroundings, and the threat of waterborne illnesses. Shortages of drinking water and concerns over house burglaries mounted while families waited hours for rescue boats, occasionally sparking friction during aid drives. Political figures and community groups have also been visiting the locality to seek immediate compensation and food distribution.

Long-Term Flood Defense Strategy

To curb recurrent monsoon crises, authorities are progressing on structural mitigation measures along the river corridor. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an embankment connecting Faizullaganj to Naimish. This initiative includes a planned 115 km protective barrier estimated at 2000 crore rupees, designed to permanently shield urban clusters from seasonal surges of the Gomti.
