Donald Trump turned to Truth Social to fire a pointed broadside at the New York Times, accusing the newspaper of peddling fabricated facts about Iran and declaring its coverage outright "TREASONOUS." In the same post, he announced his intent to fold the paper's Iran stories into his already-running multi-billion dollar lawsuit against the outlet.
What the Truth Social Post Said
Writing from his official handle @realDonaldTrump, Trump described Iran as "very battered and beat up" and blasted the New York Times for covering stories about the country through what he called FAKE and MADE UP "FACTS." He labeled the newspaper "Corrupt and Failing" and called its journalists outright "Criminals." He closed the post with the signature "President DJT."
The way the Corrupt and Failing New York Times is covering stories on a very battered and beat up Iran, through FAKE & MADE UP "FACTS" is, in my opinion, "TREASONOUS." I will be adding all of their false and ridiculous reporting to my multi Billion Dollar lawsuit against them. They are Criminals! President DJT
A Lawsuit Set to Get Larger
Trump already has a multi-billion dollar lawsuit running against the New York Times. With this Truth Social post, he made clear that the paper's Iran coverage would now be added to that legal action. He branded the stories "false and ridiculous" and used the capital-lettered word "TREASONOUS" to leave no doubt about the severity of his accusation.
