Donald Trump has described a dramatic turnaround at one of his recent events, posting the account on the social media platform Truth Social through his handle @realDonaldTrump. According to his post, a huge crowd had gathered for the evening's programme before a lightning scare forced the venue to empty out entirely.
A crowd of 422,000 sent home by lightning
Trump wrote that at 7:05 in the evening, the crowd numbered 422,000 people. Everyone was made to leave because of the weather, the event itself was called off, and the venue emptied out as lightning moved through the area.
Trump says he overturned the cancellation
Trump said that the moment he learned the event had been cancelled, he immediately reversed that decision. He then waited for some time to give people the chance to come back to the venue.
150,000 people returned for a more spectacular evening
Trump said the response was remarkable: at least 150,000 people returned, and the evening that followed turned out even more spectacular than it would have been had things gone on as originally planned. He called it proof of working well under pressure, and praised the Secret Service and Law Enforcement for managing to bring so many people back inside the Arena in such a short span of time.
Fireworks first, then a downpour
Trump added that the evening's drama did not end there. Right after the Great Fireworks display finished, rain began pouring down at full force, an ending he described as making an already amazing night even more spectacular. He signed off the post as President Donald J. Trump.
