Atal Bihari Vajpayee served as the 10th Prime Minister of India, holding office across three distinct terms. His first tenure lasted for just 13 days, from May 16, 1996, to June 1, 1996. He assumed office again for an 8-month tenure from March 19, 1998, to October 13, 1999, before leading the country through a full term from October 13, 1999, to May 22, 2004.
Beyond his political career, Vajpayee was an eloquent orator, a celebrated Hindi poet, and a seasoned journalist.
