Addressing a massive public rally in Hyderabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah mounted a comprehensive critique of opposition narratives concerning electoral roll updates, governance standards, and democratic processes. Leading a major public march through key thoroughfares of the city on Monday, the senior leader asserted that administrative measures to clean up voter databases are strictly intended to uphold democratic integrity by ensuring that only legitimate citizens exercise voting rights.
Remembering Sardar Patel and Hyderabad's Historic Integration
Opening his address with an emphasis on historical memory, the Home Minister recounted the decisive role played by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in securing Hyderabad's accession to the Indian Republic. He underscored that had the founding leadership not acted with unyielding resolve against the Nizam's regime, the territorial and political destiny of the entire Deccan region would have unfolded along a vastly different trajectory. In his remarks, he pointed out that safeguarding national sovereignty and institutional unity remains the guiding principle of his party's political philosophy.
The commemorative march commenced near the statue of Babu Jagjivan Ram and concluded at the historic commercial hub of Mozamjahi Market. Union Minister for Coal G. Kishan Reddy and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with several prominent office-bearers of the party's regional chapter, accompanied the Home Minister as he carried the national tricolour along the route.
The Mathematical Reality Behind the 13 Crore Voter Deletions
Addressing the opposition's nationwide protest campaign, Amit Shah directly tackled allegations regarding the exclusion of thirteen crore names from voter directories. Categorically rejecting claims of institutional bias, he provided an itemized explanation of why those specific entries were legally required to be struck from the registers.
He explained that out of the total figure under debate, 6.25 crore individuals had relocated to new residential areas and established permanent homes elsewhere. He questioned whether any modern legal framework allows a voter to maintain dual electoral enrollment across multiple constituencies. Furthermore, 2.8 crore entries represented deceased persons whose names, as an elementary matter of statutory diligence, must be expunged to prevent unauthorized impersonation.
He further elaborated that another 1 crore registrations consisted of redundant duplicate entries where a single citizen had been registered twice across databases, making cancellation mandatory under procedural rules. Regarding the remaining 3 crore entries, the Home Minister asserted that they lacked genuine domestic existence and represented illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators who had improperly secured municipal or electoral standing. Pledging an uncompromising stance on national security and immigration law, he declared that every unauthorized foreign entry will systematically be identified and removed from official records.
Accountability in Parliament and the EVM Paradox
Refuting arguments that electoral victories were produced by technical maneuvers, Amit Shah maintained that sustained democratic mandates in 2014, 2019, and 2024 were awarded exclusively by Indian citizens at the ballot box. He pointed to successive victories across Maharashtra, a decisive majority in Haryana, a landmark return in Delhi after three decades, as well as consolidation in Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal as proof of broad public resonance.
Turning his attention to the opposition's parallel mock parliamentary assemblies, he termed such symbolic exercises futile posturing that cannot substitute for real legislative responsibility. He issued an open challenge to opposition leaders to participate in a formal special session of Parliament to debate national concerns face-to-face, expressing skepticism about their willingness to engage in structured legislative scrutiny. Addressing recurring complaints regarding Electronic Voting Machines, he highlighted the obvious contradiction in accepting state victories in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana while simultaneously claiming that the underlying electronic hardware is inherently compromised.
Critique of Historic Scams and the Regional Governance Model
Evaluating national economic governance across eras, Amit Shah stated that the decade preceding the current administration was characterized by financial irregularities amounting to twelve lakh crore rupees. In contrast, he maintained that twelve continuous years under Narendra Modi have operated without a single substantive blemish of personal or administrative graft.
Concluding his speech with an assessment of local politics, he heavily criticized the ruling dispensation in Telangana for imposing unauthorized levies on economic activities, alleging that such exactions serve high-level political interests across states. He urged the electorate to question whether regional alternatives, including BRS or AIMIM, possessed the will or capacity to dismantle systemic patronage. Calling upon local cadre to undertake grassroots outreach to counter misleading political rhetoric, he appealed to the citizens of the state to deliver a decisive two-thirds legislative majority for comprehensive transformation.
