Former Congress national president Sonia Gandhi visited the residence of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday morning. During this courtesy meeting, she personally enquired about his health condition and overall well-being. The extended discussion between both veteran politicians covered a range of contemporary topics alongside personal greetings. Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tejashwi Yadav and other family members were also in attendance during the interaction.
Reflecting on Shared Political Milestones
Following the visit, Lalu Prasad Yadav took to the social media platform X to share photographs from the interaction, noting that the conversation brought back memories of past political collaborations. The exchange prompted reflections on their long-standing partnership, particularly the governance tenure of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition at the Centre.
Sharing his thoughts in a post on X, Lalu Prasad Yadav stated, "Sonia Gandhi arrived at the residence and enquired about health details. During this, memories of old days were refreshed."
Landmark Rights Legislation and Development Funds for Bihar
In his social media statement, Lalu Prasad Yadav highlighted how their governance during the UPA administration delivered transparent, public-centric welfare schemes tailored for youths, farmers, soldiers, and everyday citizens. He underscored that legislative milestones such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Right to Education (RTE), and the Right to Information (RTI) were instrumental in granting institutional rights and social security to citizens nationwide.
Furthermore, he emphasized that under the leadership of Sardar Manmohan Singh, significant attention was directed toward Bihar's regional growth. During that period, an allocation exceeding 1 lakh 45 thousand crore rupees was disbursed to accelerate various developmental initiatives across the state.
