The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has officially kicked off the candidate selection process for the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency by-election by inviting formal applications from members who wish to secure the party nomination.
Party officials stated that this entire initiative was set in motion under the direction of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi, calling upon eligible members to submit their paperwork in the prescribed format.
Application Fees and Deadlines
As per an official circular released by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary of organization Ramanna Baruah, candidates applying for the ticket must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 1 lakh along with their formal nomination request. The application window officially opened on August 24 and will remain active until August 28, according to party announcements.
Background of the Bypoll
The necessity for a by-election in the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat arose after former Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi resigned from the organization just prior to the state assembly elections.
Following his departure, Bordoloi moved to the Bharatiya Janata Party and contested from the Dispur Assembly constituency, successfully winning the seat to become an MLA.
Strategic Vision for the Party
Previously, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi emphasized that the political outfit is actively engaging with the general public through fresh strategic planning, with the ultimate goal of establishing a renewed political framework that aligns closely with public expectations.
