Ahead of the assembly elections scheduled for next year in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party made significant organizational appointments on Tuesday. Party National President Nitin Nevin announced these new deployments as part of an effort to streamline election preparations, reinforce grassroots organizational networks, and sync activities across all three key states.
Key Appointments for Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat
Under the newly announced structure, senior leader Vinod Tawde has been appointed as the BJP state in-charge for Uttar Pradesh. Working alongside him in the state will be Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel, who has been named as the co-incharge for Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Satish Poonia has been given the responsibility of managing party strategy in Punjab as its state in-charge. For Gujarat, senior organizational figure Tarun Chugh has been assigned the role of state in-charge. These assignments aim to build better coordination among cadre members and gear up the party machinery well before campaign trails open in these regions.
Widescale Reshuffle in National Team and Key Wings
These election-specific responsibilities come shortly after BJP President Nitin Nevin unveiled his restructured national team. The overarching changes feature a blend of experienced figures returning to prominent roles alongside major shifts in key internal wings. Among the most notable updates was the decision to replace Amit Malviya as the party IT Cell chief, handing over the leadership of the IT and Social Media Wing to Deepak Mhaske. Similarly, Tejasvi Surya was removed from his position as head of the youth wing, with Hemang Joshi taking charge of the Bharatiya Janata Youth Morcha.
The organizational realignment also marked the return of former Union Minister Smriti Irani into a central role as National General Secretary. Additionally, former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb was re-inducted into the party national organizational framework, reflecting a broad effort to consolidate party influence across different regions and demographic groups.
Vinod Tawde Track Record and Political Background
Vinod Tawde, a prominent leader from Maharashtra, was appointed as National General Secretary in Nitin Nevin new team just yesterday. He brings decades of practical experience in managing complex political campaigns and organizational building. Tawde previously served as the party in-charge for Kerala during this year election cycle, a period during which the party successfully opened its account in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Before that, Tawde was handed the responsibility of Bihar in 2022, where his strategic guidance yielded impressive electoral outcomes for the party in both assembly and Lok Sabha contests.
