With campaigning for Bihar's Bankipur assembly by-election entering its final stretch, the Bharatiya Janata Party rolled out a fresh campaign poster on Tuesday, sharpening its pitch to voters in the constituency.
Poster projects candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha as a local son
The centerpiece of the new poster is the claim that BJP's candidate, Neeraj Kumar Sinha, is genuinely one of Bankipur's own. Through the slogan "Apni Sarkar, Apna Vidhayak" (our own government, our own legislator), the party is telling voters that having its own government and its own MLA in place would mean faster work getting done. The poster also poses a blunt question to voters, "Why waste your vote?", nudging them to go straight for the lotus symbol instead of splitting their choice.
Local issues and development take center stage
The poster makes clear that BJP's pitch for this by-election rests heavily on local problems and their solutions. It frames Neeraj Kumar Sinha as someone who understands Bankipur's difficulties up close, with lines such as "local issues, local solutions" and "momentum for development, prosperity for Bankipur" aimed at reassuring voters that development work in the constituency will pick up pace if he wins.
An attempt to tie in Nitin Navin's legacy
Another notable line on the poster suggests that since Nitin's name is already trusted when it comes to Bankipur's development, backing Neeraj now is the right call. Through this, the party appears to be linking the track record of former MLA and current Rajya Sabha member Nitin Navin to its new candidate, Neeraj Kumar Sinha, hoping that loyalty built up over the years transfers to the fresh face.
EVM imagery and an appeal to press the lotus button
The poster carries an image of an Electronic Voting Machine, or EVM, with a direct appeal to voters to press the lotus button in support of the party. Toward the bottom, it also lists slogans such as "with us, development is ours," "BJP government, rights for all," and "strong leadership, a bright future," aimed at reminding voters of the government's record and its promises going forward.
Voting on July 30, and who else is in the fray
Polling for the Bankipur assembly by-election is scheduled for July 30, 2026, and under the Election Commission's schedule, the seat has turned into one of the most closely watched contests this time around. BJP has fielded Neeraj Kumar Sinha, while Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor is contesting an election himself for the first time. RJD, meanwhile, has put up Rekha Gupta as its candidate. With campaigning now in its last leg, every party is relying on door-to-door outreach, public meetings and social media campaigns to swing voters in their favor.
