Bengal government minister and senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has openly mocked the push to bring various political factions together, arguing that political figures who once ignored traditional allies are now scrambling for support simply because the political tide has turned.
Recalling Past Electoral Attitude
Interacting with journalists in New Town, the minister pointedly questioned the past electoral conduct of the ruling camp in the state. He remarked that during local electoral battles, no consideration was shown even to the Congress party, and statements were made without restraint. According to him, the tables have now turned completely, leading to a frantic search for alliances and a sudden invocation of Mahatma Gandhi out of sheer helplessness.
Assembly Strength And Internal Discord
Highlighting the strength of the opposition inside the assembly, Ghosh stated that the electorate has provided a formidable mandate to sit across the aisle. He noted that a count of 81 is by no means a small figure, especially given that they operated with significantly lower numbers over the preceding five years. He further alleged that while attempts were made in the past to poach members from his party, the leadership is now struggling to keep its own house in order, raising the question of how someone unable to unite their own party can claim to unite the entire country.

Addressing the recent attack on AITMC legislator Kunal Ghosh, the BJP leader offered a critical assessment of the incident. He claimed that the legislator deliberately provokes crowds and instigates friction solely to remain relevant in the headlines, suggesting that generating media attention is the singular motivation behind such episodes.

Shifting focus to international affairs, Ghosh commented on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, noting its detrimental impact on the global economy. He stated that the protracted hostilities have created numerous hurdles for worldwide progress, prompting endless diplomatic meetings. Describing the military confrontation as a major concern for all nations, he emphasized that the fighting must come to an end.
Critique Of Pakistan And India's Global Stature
Turning to regional geopolitics, the minister delivered a harsh assessment of Pakistan, questioning its capacity to advocate for global peace. He asserted that a nation grappling with severe domestic turmoil, shortages of food and fuel, water scarcity, and collapsing healthcare and educational systems lacks any credibility on the world stage. In stark contrast, he maintained that when India speaks, and when Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the global community, the world listens attentively, a reality that remains unchanged.
