This facility serves as a primary processing center for the central region of the state, located roughly 200 miles from New Orleans. Yiannopoulos has lived and worked in the United States for several years, reportedly maintaining his stay on an O-1 visa. This non-immigrant visa category is designated for individuals with extraordinary ability in fields such as the arts, sciences, business, or journalism. However, Yiannopoulos has never held U.S. citizenship. His prominent emergence in American conservative politics began during his time at the right-wing publication Breitbart, where he worked from 2014 until 2017. He resigned from the media organization following severe public backlash over controversial remarks regarding sexual relations between adults and young adolescent boys, which he had suggested could be consensual.
Political Alliances and Past Controversies
Over the following years, Yiannopoulos remained an active figure on the fringes of right-wing political circles. In 2022, he claimed responsibility for arranging an infamous dinner at Mar-a-Lago involving rapper Kanye West, white nationalist activist Nick Fuentes, and Donald Trump, stating at the time that his intention was to cause political difficulty for Trump. In his personal life, Yiannopoulos married his long-term male partner in Hawaii in 2017. However, in 2021, he publicly declared that he had become heterosexual and Roman Catholic, while announcing plans to open a gay conversion therapy facility in Florida. Professionally, he later collaborated with Fuentes as well as former U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Spokesperson Role for Kanye West
Yiannopoulos currently acts as a spokesman for Kanye West, who is scheduled to perform a concert at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Friday evening as part of his 2026 tour. Late in 2022, Yiannopoulos briefly joined West's prospective 2024 presidential campaign. He parted ways with the campaign days after the musician made pro-Nazi statements and praised Adolf Hitler during an appearance on Alex Jones' InfoWars livestream. Although the two figures repeatedly reunited and separated in subsequent years, Yiannopoulos claimed in a series of posts on X in 2024 that West was dealing with an addiction to nitrous oxide.
Public Feuds and Past Anti-Immigration Stance
Throughout his time in public life, Yiannopoulos has frequently engaged in high-profile rivalries with other political commentators. Among his most vocal critics is conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, who pinned a post on X on Friday announcing his detention by ICE and claiming credit for drawing attention to his immigration status. Loomer stated that she was the first to highlight his unlawful presence in the U.S. and wrote, "Milo is going to be deported back to the UK." Ironically, Yiannopoulos had strongly endorsed hardline anti-immigration policies on his own X account during the previous summer. In that post, he insisted that the federal administration must prioritize mass deportations, writing, "We have got to deport millions and millions and millions of people."
