Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha MP Shambhu Sharan Patel has launched a severe critique of the state's policing and administrative framework, stating that criminals have completely lost all fear of the law. He noted that this exact failure is why such incidents continue to plague the state. Patel asserted that Bihar urgently requires a competent Director General of Police and a strong Chief Secretary to overhaul the entire administrative machinery. His statements reflected profound frustration with the current state of governance alongside deep anxiety regarding the safety and security of daughters in the state.
Criminals No Longer Fear the Law
The BJP parliamentarian emphasized that wrongdoers operate without any apprehension of legal consequences. This lack of deterrence drives the continuous stream of tragic incidents reported across the region. When any daughter falls victim to a crime, it remains entirely deplorable, and fixing the policing apparatus is the absolute responsibility of the government. Directing sharp criticism at the working style of Bihar police officials, he described a reality where Superintendents of Police do not even attend phone calls. Recounting his own recent experience, Patel explained that following an accident involving a young girl, he attempted to reach out for assistance. According to his account, the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police failed to answer his call, and no First Information Report has been registered in the matter to this day.
The Policing System in Bihar Has Totally Collapsed
Using uncompromising language regarding the state of law enforcement, the Rajya Sabha MP declared that policing in Bihar has completely broken down. He questioned the viability of a system where a sitting parliamentarian trying to intervene in a crime against a girl cannot even secure a response from the concerned police officer over the phone. He reminded listeners that the people of Bihar voted for governance and development, pointing out that this mandate came on the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with citizens expecting a decisive cleanup of law and order. Patel reiterated that whenever a crime targets a daughter, reforming the police response is paramount, stating without hesitation that the state's entire policing structure has collapsed.
