Monsoon Session Opens With NCPI's Parliamentary Debut And A New Vande Mataram Bill

Ahead of Parliament's Monsoon Session, NCPI took part in its first parliamentary party meeting with Sudeep Bandyopadhyay signalling support for the NDA government, as Amit Shah prepares to introduce a bill criminalising insults to Vande Mataram.

India's Parliament headed into its Monsoon Session with two firsts making headlines: NCPI took part in a parliamentary party meeting for the very first time, and Sudeep Bandyopadhyay signalled that the party would extend its support to the NDA government through the session.

Alongside NCPI's debut as a recognised parliamentary player, the session will also see TMC rebels seated separately from the rest of their party in the House, a visible sign of the split within the Trinamool camp.
