Out of the 10 municipal corporations across the state, four cities have emerged where the electoral arithmetic has turned exceptionally intricate and fascinating. A Dead Heat in Jodhpur
The municipal corporation in Jodhpur presents a dead heat between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. Both major political parties have secured identical victories by winning 44 wards each. This complete parity has made the contest for the mayor's chair intensely competitive and unpredictable. The question is no longer just about party strength in the chambers, but where the allegiance of the remaining councillors will eventually drift. With numbers tied evenly, the decision of even a single independent or stray councillor could decisively swing the board-forming arithmetic. Independent Dominance in Bharatpur
The electoral landscape in the Bharatpur municipal corporation tells a completely different story. Independent candidates have staged a dominant performance by winning 36 wards, making them the single largest bloc in the corporation. In comparison, the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to secure 20 seats, while the Congress party was restricted to victories in just 7 wards. Additionally, the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party secured one seat each. Since the tally of independent councillors in Bharatpur outnumbers both major parties, their backing has become indispensable for claiming the mayor's position. Congress Leads in Ajmer and Pali
In the Ajmer municipal corporation, the Congress party has emerged as the single largest group by securing 37 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 32 wards alongside 11 independent councillors who emerged victorious. Although the Congress holds the highest seat count, claiming the mayoral office depends strictly on securing the necessary supporting numbers to cross the threshold. Similarly, in the Pali municipal corporation, the Congress captured 29 wards to take the lead, with the Bharatiya Janata Party trailing at 21 seats and 15 independent councillors winning their respective contests. While Congress stands as the single largest party in Pali, the substantial presence of independents means their role will be pivotal in determining who ultimately captures the mayor's chair.
Status of the Remaining Municipal Corporations
In contrast to the complex scenarios unfolding in Jodhpur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and Pali, the remaining six municipal corporations in the state exhibit much clearer outcomes. In Jaipur, the Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the leading party. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party secured clear majorities in Kota with 55 wards, Udaipur with 53 wards, and Bhilwara with 45 wards. In Alwar, the Bharatiya Janata Party also stayed ahead by winning 28 seats. On the other hand, the Congress party secured a clear majority in Bikaner by winning 42 wards. While corporations like Kota, Udaipur, Bhilwara, and Bikaner have straightforward majority equations, the intense political maneuvering in the remaining four cities continues to dominate political discussions across the state.
