Rahul Gandhi Demands Accountability From Amit Shah
Raising the issue of police action against student demonstrations in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi put the government in the dock by leveling serious allegations. He claimed that under the tenure of the Home Minister, pellet guns were fired at protesting students and they were beaten with spiked batons. The Congress leader argued that the fundamental question was not whether Amit Shah would come to Parliament to deliver a speech on a routine topic, but rather who gave the explicit permission to open fire on the youth of the country.
He further challenged the Home Minister to clarify whether the directive came from him directly. According to Gandhi, if the order was issued by him, he is culpable for the violence against children, and if he was unaware of it, he is incompetent. Mocking the absence of key leaders from the legislature over a span of 15 days, he asserted that neither of them had the courage to face the House and own up to their actions.
Mallikarjun Kharge Questions Ramcharitmanas And Donation Scandals
Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge trained his guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Ram Mandir Trust and alleged donation embezzlement cases. Raising questions, Kharge asked where the Ramcharitmanas went, noting that various individuals have brought facts to light and demanded the strictest possible punishment for those involved in financial thefts. He stated that the Prime Minister himself should come forward with explanations, yet the administration has chosen to ignore these appeals.
Kharge emphasized that on one hand, students were subjected to brutal baton charges, while on the other, major donation scams have come to light. Demanding accountability, he stated that the Prime Minister must issue an apology to the citizens of the country over these incidents.
Government Stance: Amit Shah To Reply Provided Opposition Maintains Order
Amid intense uproar and demands from the opposition benches, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju clarified on Monday that the government is fully prepared to facilitate a comprehensive discussion in Parliament on the student protests and subsequent police actions. Following a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, Rijiju stated that Home Minister Amit Shah himself would reply to the debate. However, the government placed a conditional caveat, insisting that the opposition must assure the House that they will not disrupt proceedings, engage in sloganeering, or interrupt while the Home Minister delivers his official statement.
