Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has invited all INDIA bloc MPs to a special high tea gathering at his official residence on Tuesday. The informal meeting is aimed at strengthening coordination among opposition parties and mapping out a joint strategy to challenge the ruling administration both inside Parliament and out on the streets.
Focus On Vote Fraud And Election Commission
Discussions during the gathering are expected to center around organizing joint protests against alleged vote tampering. Opposition leaders will also deliberate on pressing their demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. According to insiders, the high tea session could potentially be followed by a joint press conference or a coordinated public demonstration, though final details of these supplementary actions remain closely guarded.
The March To The Supreme Court
The high tea meeting at the 5, Sunhri Bagh Road residence takes place immediately following a massive mobilization in the national capital. Opposition heavyweights joined forces with activists and civil society members to stage a high-visibility protest march toward the apex court. The participants registered their strong displeasure over alleged electoral irregularities by pushing through heavy security barricades in central Delhi.
Key Opposition Figures Led The Protests
Large crowds carrying banners and party flags gathered near Connaught Place to participate in the demonstration. The march saw active participation from prominent opposition figures including Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, D. Raja, M.A. Baby, Tejashwi Yadav, and Supriya Sule. Demonstrators managed to breach an initial security barrier on Bhagwan Das Road before being stopped by subsequent barricades.
Legal Challenge Filed In Apex Court
Following the street demonstrations, top leaders of the opposition alliance headed to the Supreme Court to file a formal petition. The legal action names the Election Commission of India, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with election commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi as parties to the case. This development comes just a day after Chief Justice Surya Kant declined a meeting requested by opposition floor leaders, noting that the matter is currently sub judice.
