A tragic incident unfolded in the Baran district of Rajasthan when a 6-year-old child was swept away by strong currents while bathing in a local canal. The body of the deceased child, identified as Milan Sahariya, was recovered on Friday morning near Bawan Mata Ki Jhopdiya village, approximately 6 kilometers away from the spot where he accidentally fell. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station in Barani village. A Civil Defense team conducted an extensive rescue operation to retrieve the body from the canal and subsequently transferred it to the district hospital for procedural formalities.
Accident Occurred During Evening Bathing
According to the details, Rahul, a local resident of Barani village who works as a laborer, lived with his family in the area. On Thursday evening, his 6-year-old son Milan Sahariya went to the nearby canal alongside another young boy to bathe. While in the water, Milan suddenly lost his footing and slipped into the rapid current of the canal. The child accompanying him immediately ran to alert nearby villagers and family members. As news of the child being swept away spread, panic and distress gripped the entire village.
Challenging Rescue Operation Launched by Civil Defense
Upon receiving information about the drowning, local authorities and a Civil Defense team promptly arrived at the scene to launch a search and rescue operation. Rescue personnel entered the turbulent waters and searched through the canal until late Thursday evening. However, the search efforts faced severe hindrances due to the strong and continuous flow of the water current. Despite persistent attempts by the rescue personnel stretching into late Thursday night, no trace of the missing boy could be found.
Recovery of the Body and Safety Concerns Raised
The search resumed early Friday morning, leading to the discovery of the child's body in the canal near Bawan Mata Ki Jhopdiya village, located nearly 6 kilometers downstream from the incident site. Informants alerted the Civil Defense team, who rushed to the location, extracted the body from the water, and transported it to the Baran District Hospital for legal procedures and medical examination.
The sudden demise of young Milan has plunged Barani village into deep mourning, leaving his parents and family members completely devastated. The unfortunate event has also sparked serious concerns regarding public safety along high-flow water channels. Local villagers have stressed the urgent need for safety measures and precautionary guidelines around dangerous canals to prevent children from wandering near open water hazards.
