At the Diamond State Summit held in Jaipur, key discussions centered on Rajasthan's financial condition, water infrastructure, power availability, and industrial investment opportunities. Addressing the gathering, State Finance Commission Chairman Arun Chaturvedi detailed the state's economic model and the governance measures introduced over the past three years. He emphasized that the presence of a double-engine government administration has delivered direct benefits to the citizens of Rajasthan. According to Chaturvedi, this aligned administrative structure has accelerated long-pending development initiatives and restored fiscal equilibrium across key state departments.
Water Management: Progress on ERCP and Yamuna River Agreement
Water scarcity has long remained one of Rajasthan's most critical structural challenges, impacting both agricultural operations and the daily lives of residents. Arun Chaturvedi noted that securing reliable water sources remains a top operational priority for the state leadership. The Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project, known as ERCP, was originally conceptualized during a previous Bharatiya Janata Party administration to address regional water deficits. However, the initiative faced prolonged delays and administrative inertia during the subsequent Congress state government tenure. Following the political transition, the project was revitalized and fast-tracked for ground-level implementation. Additionally, administrative obstacles hindering access to Yamuna river waters were cleared through inter-state coordination, opening up vital water supply routes for arid districts.
Energy Sector Infrastructure and 24x7 Power Supply Across 26 Districts
Energy security formed another central pillar of Chaturvedi's presentation on state infrastructure improvements. He explained that power generation capacity across Rajasthan has been scaled up significantly to overcome historical supply shortfalls. As a result of these capacity additions and grid management enhancements, 26 districts across the state now receive continuous, uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the day and night. This round-the-clock power availability has provided major stability to agricultural pump operations, supported commercial and manufacturing units, and eliminated frequent residential power outages that previously hampered daily activities.
Fiscal Innovations and Investment Generation Through Rising Rajasthan
To fortify the state's economic foundation, the State Finance Commission and government leadership have introduced a series of structural financial experiments. Arun Chaturvedi highlighted the Rising Rajasthan global investment initiative as a flagship project designed to project the state as an attractive industrial destination. The campaign has succeeded in drawing significant interest from national and international investor groups across manufacturing, infrastructure, and clean energy sectors. Chaturvedi stated that these capital inflows will optimize state resource utilization, improve long-term revenue collection, and generate substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities for local youth.
Views on Gen Z Protests, Jantar Mantar Agitation, and Opposition Critique
During the interactive sessions, Arun Chaturvedi also addressed youth engagement and recent public demonstrations at Jantar Mantar involving Gen Z participants. While acknowledging the energy and potential of India's youth demographic, he characterized the gathering at Jantar Mantar as a collection of misdirected individuals. He argued that the demonstration did not represent a genuine public cause, describing it instead as an exercise in agitation for the sake of agitation. Turning his focus to opposition politics, Chaturvedi launched a sharp critique against the Congress party over the Special Investment Region (SIR) controversy, alleging that opposition leaders were intentionally misleading the public and attempting to foster social instability and confusion across the country.
