A critical bottleneck holding up direct road connectivity between the RIICO industrial area and the Bikaner bypass in Sikar has finally been resolved. Following demands that originated in 2018, the forest department has issued stage-1 clearance for diverting 1.35 hectares of forest land in the Smriti Van zone. This milestone clears the way to bridge the missing link and establish a direct corridor between local manufacturing units and the highway.
The 450-Metre Hurdle After an Eight-Year Wait
While the broader stretch connecting RIICO to the bypass had already been developed earlier, construction remained stranded across an unfinished 450-metre patch passing through protected forest land. Because this specific portion could not be touched without statutory environmental nods, freight vehicles were deprived of a direct path. Local entrepreneurs first raised the demand for this corridor in 2018, and the project is finally moving forward after nearly eight years of persistence.
Fulfilment of Conditions and Payment of 23 Lakh Rupees
Assistant Conservator of Forests Saurabhkumar confirmed that stage-1 clearance for forest land diversion has been formally granted. The Urban Improvement Trust, or UIT, must now comply with the statutory terms and criteria set down by the forest authorities before final clearance is accorded. Following the initial nod, the UIT has already deposited the required sum of 23 lakh rupees with the forest department to facilitate the diversion process.
A 100-Foot Wide Dedicated Freight Corridor
Under the approved blueprint, the 450-metre section slicing through the Smriti Van tract will be constructed with a width of 100 feet. This substantial width is designed specifically to handle heavy goods vehicles, including multi-axle trucks and trailers, without creating traffic friction. Physical ground construction on this pending stretch will commence as soon as the final paperwork and remaining formalities are concluded.
Relief from Heavy Urban Traffic Congestion
At present, commercial carriers moving to and from the RIICO industrial complex are compelled to navigate the primary thoroughfares of Sikar. This routine diversion causes persistent bottlenecks, especially along Jaipur Road and adjoining intersections that experience chronic gridlock due to heavy vehicular movement. Once the link road opens, outbound and inbound freight transport will bypass inner-city roads entirely to reach the Bikaner highway directly.
Faster Logistics and Reduced Transit Times
The benefits of this link will extend well beyond industrial operators. Regular commuters travelling between Jaipur Road and the Bikaner highway will also enjoy an alternative artery that spares them from driving through crowded urban corridors. For factory owners, the seamless route will expedite the inbound supply of raw materials and the outbound dispatch of finished merchandise, trimming transportation overheads and cutting urban congestion simultaneously.
