Travelers at Sikar railway junction are soon going to receive a brand new pathway to access the station premises, resolving longstanding commuting hurdles. Preparations have accelerated rapidly to throw open the second entry gate, which has remained constructed for nearly 14 months, for general passenger use. A specialized technical team dispatched from Jaipur has commenced work inside the newly built ticket booking hall to install essential modern utilities such as internet connectivity and ATVM units. According to railway officials, passenger entry from this newly developed zone will commence within approximately a week following the official handover of the construction work.
Major relief for commuters across large parts of the city
Once this alternative route becomes operational, passengers arriving from a vast sector of the city will no longer need to navigate a lengthy detour around Kalyan Circle just to reach the railway station. This passage will prove exceptionally useful for commuters approaching particularly from Piprali Road, Nawalgarh Road, Radhakishanpura, and RTO Road. Currently, individuals traveling from these localities are forced to cover significant extra distance to reach the primary entrance. The opening of the second entry will substantially shorten the journey to the station while saving valuable time for daily commuters.
Dedicated approach road and parking infrastructure established
An approximately 800-meter long and 20-foot wide road has been successfully constructed stretching from Nawalgarh overbridge up to the Radhakishanpura gate, facilitating smooth transit to the secondary station entrance. Furthermore, a dedicated parking space has been developed for passengers roughly 250 meters away from the Radhakishanpura gate. A large dome structure has been erected to offer protection against harsh sunlight and rainfall, ensuring convenience for travelers parking vehicles and walking toward the station, although parking operations may take a little longer to commence due to ongoing tender formalities.
Comprehensive modern amenities arranged at the secondary entrance
The second entry zone is equipped with far more than just a roadway, featuring an array of passenger-centric amenities designed to elevate travel comfort. A spacious air-conditioned ticket window hall has been established here, complete with comfortable passenger waiting lounges alongside modern restrooms and bathing facilities. Distinct ticketing arrangements have been put in place, and railway authorities are simultaneously provisioning internet connectivity and Automatic Ticket Vending Machines to streamline ticket procurement without hassle.
Special attention has been dedicated toward ensuring accessibility for differently-abled passengers. Dedicated ramps, separate ticket windows, and customized restrooms have been engineered within the second entry premises to accommodate disabled individuals. These enhancements will render station access significantly more convenient for senior citizens and persons with disabilities compared to previous conditions. Developed under a project costing approximately 12 crore rupees, this section incorporates modern passenger infrastructure that is finally slated for public utilization following the completion of pending procedures.
Final formalities underway as project reaches culmination
Railway administration confirms that the project has officially entered its concluding phase. Senior DCM Bhupesh Yadav stated that the construction work will be formally taken over from the contracting firm within the next two to three days. Preparations are actively underway to initiate passenger entries from the second gate shortly thereafter, while installation works for internet and ATVM setups inside the new ticket hall proceed in parallel. Consequently, citizens will soon be able to utilize this long-awaited transit route.
Significant shift in station approach and traffic decongestion
The most substantial transformation will occur in the commuting route leading up to the railway station. Currently, all primary entries to Sikar junction are routed through the Kalyan Circle side. The operationalization of the second entry will introduce alternative entry points situated right under the Nawalgarh overbridge in front of the women police station and near the Radhakishanpura underpass. This development will shrink travel distances for commuters arriving from nearly half of the urban territory while simultaneously alleviating heavy traffic congestion on the primary entrance corridor.
