Tensions surged across two separate districts of Rajasthan over funeral and cremation grounds, leading to physical clashes in one area and public fury in another. In the village of Jirota Khurd in Dausa district, a confrontation between two groups over the designation of cremation land escalated into violence, leaving two individuals injured. Meanwhile, in Dudu district, allegations that a cremation was conducted inside the premises of the Swami Vivekanand Government Model School provoked widespread anger among local villagers and school authorities. Both episodes have highlighted sharp disputes surrounding land earmarked for final rites and prompted immediate intervention by district administrations.
Violent Clash Over Cremation Grounds in Jirota Khurd
The unrest in Dausa began following the demise of a woman belonging to the Nath community in Jirota Khurd village. When her relatives reached the site to make preparations for her burial and last rites, members of another local group raised strong objections. The opposing group claimed that the chosen patch of land was not designated cremation ground property. The disagreement quickly intensified from heated verbal arguments into a physical altercation involving assault and physical attacks.
Two people sustained injuries during the ensuing brawl. As a consequence of the escalating hostility, the woman's last rites were completely stalled. The deceased woman's family insisted on burying her body at the specific site they had selected, while the opposing group refused to concede that the location was legitimate cremation ground. Upon being alerted to the violence, personnel from the Sadar police station along with administrative officials mobilized to the village. Law enforcement authorities have been working at the location to de-escalate tempers, mediate between the two sides, and reach an acceptable compromise so the last rites can proceed peacefully.
Allegations of Unauthorized Cremation Inside a Government School in Dudu
In Dudu, an equally contentious episode emerged at the Swami Vivekanand Government Model School campus. Serious concerns were raised following allegations that an unauthorized cremation had been carried out directly on the educational facility's grounds. The discovery of the incident immediately triggered shock within the school management and provoked intense opposition from residents of the nearby community.
Villagers alleged that unidentified individuals broke the lock of the school gates to gain unauthorized entry into the premises before performing the funeral pyre rites inside. Describing the act as deeply inappropriate and unacceptable for an active educational institution, community members have demanded a comprehensive investigation. They stated that conducting a cremation inside government school grounds represents a grave infraction of administrative regulations, insisting that every individual responsible for trespassing, property tampering, and breaching official norms must face strict penal action.
Rising Disputes Over Public Land and Funeral Sites
The simultaneous controversies in Dausa and Dudu underscore significant friction in rural governance regarding the demarcation of public cremation grounds and the safeguarding of civic infrastructure. In Dausa, the lack of consensus over boundary definitions left two citizens injured and delayed a family's final respects to their departed relative. In Dudu, the alleged misuse of a public school campus exposed vulnerabilities in institutional oversight. Police and civil authorities in both districts remain focused on keeping the peace and identifying violations of local laws.
