Law enforcement authorities have dismantled a sprawling inter-state drug trafficking racket operating across northern India, taking four key operatives into custody. In an operation conducted by the Rohini district special staff, investigators confiscated 7.076 kilograms of refined heroin possessing an estimated international street value of approximately 50 crore rupees. A crucial breakthrough in the crackdown was the discovery of an illicit clandestine chemical processing facility operating out of Uttar Pradesh's capital, Lucknow, where officers uncovered 6.275 kilograms of finished narcotics ready for shipment.
Beyond the refined contraband, search teams recovered chemical precursors and processing equipment inside the clandestine production site. The seizure included 2.504 kilograms of sodium alongside 787 grams of acetic anhydride, which are essential compounds utilized during the chemical purification process. Officers additionally impounded manufacturing apparatus, including a gas cylinder, electric mixer grinder, plastic tubs, specialized cooking and mixing utensils, polythene packaging covers, an electronic weighing scale, and wooden collection baskets.
Mid-September Traffic Trap Yields First Operative
The unraveling of the syndicate commenced on September 16, following actionable intelligence regarding a scheduled narcotics transfer near Begumpur. The special staff positioned a tactical cordon near Sector-32 and intercepted a Grand Vitara vehicle. The driver, identified as 58-year-old Laxman Hooda, a resident of Rohtak, was apprehended at the spot. A search of his belongings uncovered 300 grams of heroin along with three lakh rupees in unaccounted currency, leading to the immediate impounding of the automobile.
Interrogation of Hooda provided crucial leads regarding the regional distribution channel. Acting on these inputs on September 17, investigators raided a hideout in Sonipat and captured 51-year-old Anil, known by the alias Bhola. A consignment of 501 grams of heroin was seized from his possession, and his Mahindra XUV-700 utility vehicle was confiscated. Criminal database checks confirmed that Anil had jumped parole in a previous NDPS prosecution and was officially designated a proclaimed offender.
Clandestine Manufacturing Lab Uncovered in Lucknow
Leveraging technical surveillance and statements extracted from the initial two arrestees, investigators mapped the upstream supply channel directly to the manufacturing hub. On October 4, a strike team descended upon an address in Sita Colony within Lucknow's Janakipuram locality, arresting 35-year-old Bablu inside the premises. A thorough search revealed 6.275 kilograms of fully processed heroin.
Investigators established that the seized stock had been actively synthesized inside that residential dwelling. Alongside the finished drug, officers documented 2.504 kilograms of sodium, 787 grams of acetic anhydride, heating gas cylinders, electric blenders, mixing vessels, packaging materials, and precision digital scales, confirming that the premises functioned as a full-fledged processing facility hidden within an ordinary neighborhood.
High-Speed Chase Across 120 Kilometers Traps Kingpin in Bareilly
Disclosures made by Bablu led police to target the primary organizer and facility owner, identified as Ruksar Ali, alias Raju. Following an uninterrupted pursuit spanning nearly 120 kilometers, police interceptors finally closed in and apprehended Ruksar in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. Police records indicate that Ruksar has a documented criminal history, having previously faced charges in three separate NDPS cases.
The investigation has established a multi-tiered supply chain linking manufacturing hubs in Uttar Pradesh directly with street distributors across Delhi and the National Capital Region. While high-grade heroin was synthesized in Lucknow, dedicated couriers transported and distributed consignments throughout the capital area. Investigative teams are currently analyzing money trails, identifying suppliers of raw precursor chemicals, and pursuing additional associates linked to the illicit trade.
