Rajasthan has set the stage for local rural governance elections following an official announcement by the State Election Commission. The upcoming panchayati raj elections will be conducted across the state under the 'One State, One Election' framework. With the formal poll declaration, the Model Code of Conduct has immediately come into force throughout the state, imposing a complete freeze on government employee transfers and postings.
Polling Schedule Divided Across Four Phases
State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh outlined the election framework during a press conference in Jaipur. The polling process will take place in four distinct phases to ensure orderly management. Under this schedule, voting across 14,403 gram panchayats will be held in December to elect sarpanches and ward panches. Simultaneously, elections will cover 457 panchayat samitis and 41 zila parishads across the state.
Over 40 Million Rural Voters Eligible
The democratic exercise will see widespread participation from rural communities, with more than 4.03 crore registered voters eligible to cast their ballots. District administrations have been instructed to finalize logistical and security arrangements to maintain peaceful voting across all designated polling booths throughout the four stages.
Two-Month Model Code Freezes Policy Decisions
The enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct will remain active for two months. During this period, the state administration cannot announce new welfare schemes, lay foundation stones, or reshuffle administrative personnel in jurisdictions covered by the elections. The commission will notify detailed timelines for nomination filing, scrutiny, withdrawal, and vote counting for each phase.
