A horrifying incident of violence has shaken the Sapotra region of Karauli district in Rajasthan, where a young man who had recently returned from Dubai was brutally assaulted. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Rooplal Bairwa, was intercepted by unidentified attackers traveling in a Bolero utility vehicle. The perpetrators carried out a barbaric assault, cutting off his nose and ears before fleeing the scene.
Ambushed on the Way Home
The violent episode unfolded late Saturday evening along the Bairunda-Jakhoda road. Rooplal, a resident of Raiti ki Jhopri village, was riding his motorcycle back home from the direction of Bairunda. As he navigated the route, a Bolero carrying several unidentified individuals suddenly blocked his path, forcing him to halt. The armed occupants immediately targeted Rooplal, unleashing a coordinated attack using sharp-edged weapons.
Left Wounded in the Forest
The attackers focused their blows on Rooplal's face and head, resulting in deep lacerations. They severed his nose and ears, leaving him in a pool of blood. After inflicting these horrific injuries, the assailants dragged the unconscious victim and dumped him in the roadside forest before speeding away. Commuters passing through the deserted stretch eventually spotted the bloodied victim and immediately alerted the local police.
Emergency Medical Response and Investigation
Upon receiving the distress call, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bijendra Singh rushed to the forest with a police team. They rescued Rooplal and transported him to the Sapotra Sub-district Hospital. Dr. Amar Singh Meena administered primary emergency care, but due to the life-threatening nature of the head injuries, Rooplal was referred to a specialized higher medical facility.
According to Rooplal's brother, Bijendra, the victim works as a laborer in Dubai and had returned to his native village specifically to celebrate the festival of Anant Chaturdashi. Learning of the gruesome attack, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daulatram visited the hospital to record statements from the family. The desolate nature of the Bairunda-Jakhoda road provided the attackers with an opportunity to execute the crime unseen. Local residents have expressed deep shock over the brutality of the incident, which has raised concerns over rural safety in the region. The police are exploring personal enmity and other possible angles as they await a formal complaint from the family to register an FIR.
