A fresh wave of panic has swept through Salempur village in Rajasthan's Karauli district following the sudden appearance of two leopards close to residential areas. The repeated sighting of these wild predators near inhabited zones has left local residents extremely worried about their safety, prompting immediate administrative intervention.
Leopards Spotted Near the Local Mosque
The incident unfolded late at night when two leopards were seen together right in front of the local mosque and graveyard. What alarmed residents the most was that the animals were standing merely 30 meters away from a villager's home, highlighting how close the wildlife had ventured into human habitation.
Villager Captures Photo on Mobile Phone
During the sudden encounter, a local resident named Yakub managed to capture a photograph of one of the leopards using his mobile phone. As villagers began shouting and making noise to drive the animals away, both leopards fled from the spot and headed toward the nearby Garhwali hill.
Police and Forest Officials Rush to the Spot
Upon receiving information about the sighting, local police and forest department teams swiftly arrived at the location to assess the situation. During their inspection, forest officials discovered fresh pugmarks belonging to the leopards in the area, officially confirming their active presence.
Surveillance Cameras and Rescue Cage Installed
In response to the growing threat, the forest department has significantly ramped up patrolling and monitoring in the region. Track cameras have been installed to track the movement of the animals, and a rescue cage has been set up to safely capture them. According to Ranger Anil Kumar मीणा, the departmental team is keeping a constant watch on the area.
Department Issues Safety Advisory for Villagers
Authorities have strongly urged local residents to remain vigilant and cautious during this period. The forest department has advised villagers not to approach the leopards under any circumstances if sighted again, and to immediately inform the department officials so that timely precautionary measures can be undertaken.
