A catastrophic industrial accident claimed the lives of five construction laborers in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district during an active road-building project. The fatal incident unfolded near Chhapoli village, where a working crew was laying down a newly paved thoroughfare leading toward Kadam Kund. Three other workers suffered extensive electrical burns and are fighting for their lives.
Contact with 11,000-Volt Overhead Transmission Line
The tragedy occurred when a heavy metal concrete and gravel mixing machine accidentally struck an overhead 11,000-volt high-tension electrical cable running directly above the construction corridor. The moment the machinery brushed against the active power line, thousands of volts surged through the metal frame and into the immediate surroundings where the crew was stationed.
Eight Laborers Struck by Massive Electric Shock
A total of eight laborers working in the immediate vicinity of the machinery took the direct brunt of the high-voltage electrical discharge. The sheer force of the current proved instantly fatal for five of the workers, who died on the spot before medical aid could reach them. The remaining three victims sustained critical blast and burn injuries from the current and were rushed to medical facilities for emergency intervention.
Local Villagers Rush to the Construction Site
The loud commotion and sudden disaster drew a massive crowd of residents from Chhapoli village and adjoining rural settlements to the construction zone. Bystanders helped coordinate initial rescue efforts, assisting in moving the injured away from the danger zone and transporting them for urgent medical treatment. The tragic deaths on the Kadam Kund route have cast a heavy pall of grief across the entire community.
