A horrific incident of dowry-related domestic violence has emerged from Chirawal Mali village under the Nagar police station jurisdiction in Alwar district, Rajasthan. In-laws locked the premises from inside and launched a deadly attack on two married sisters using iron weapons. Both victims were left severely injured and covered in blood after the assault. Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team rushed to the scene and secured the location. Considering the critical condition of the victims, police immediately transferred both sisters to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Alwar, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment.
Married Seven Years Ago, Facing Continuous Dowry Harassment
The victims have been identified as Brijlata Saini and Veervati Saini, who originally hail from the Sikri police station area. Approximately seven years ago, both sisters were married to two brothers, Anil and Bhupendra, residing in Chirawal Mali village. According to the victims, members of their in-laws' family had been subjecting them to persistent mental and physical torture demanding extra dowry ever since their marriage. The harassment involved several members of the extended family, including their father-in-law, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
Two Lakh Rupees Paid in January, Yet Demands Persisted
Brijlata Saini stated that distressed by the non-stop harassment, their parents' family had handed over a sum of 2,00,000 rupees in cash to the in-laws in January of this year. The parental family hoped that paying two lakh rupees would put an end to the torture, but the demands did not stop. Despite receiving the money, the in-laws continued to pressure and abuse both sisters, constantly insisting on further money and goods.
Doors Locked Before Assault With Iron Weapons
On Monday, the conflict escalated significantly. The victims alleged that father-in-law Vishambhar, mother-in-law Phoolvati, brother-in-law Jagdish, sister-in-law Shakuntala, brother-in-law Satish, his wife Nirma, and their daughter Preeti joined together in the attack. The accused first locked the main entrance gate of the house to prevent any escape or outside help. They then used iron weapons to repeatedly strike both sisters. The brutal assault left both women with serious injuries across their bodies, bleeding heavily until neighbors and police intervened.
Advocate Victim Demands Strict Action as Police Probe Begins
Among the injured sisters, Brijlata Saini works as an advocate practicing in the Nagar court, while her sister Veervati Saini is a homemaker. Speaking from the hospital, Brijlata Saini highlighted the vulnerability of women, noting that if a practicing female lawyer can face such brutal violence within her own marital home, one can only imagine the safety conditions and plight of ordinary women in society. The victims have appealed for justice through the media, demanding strict legal action against all named accused. Meanwhile, local police stated that a thorough investigation is underway to verify the allegations and process the formal charges.
